A wanted Maoist Jhadu Huika (28) alias Jagdeesh of Gorkhajhola village under Narayanpatna police limits surrendered before Koraput SP Aswini Kumar on Wednesday.
While Jagdeesh had joined Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) in 2008, he was also an active member of Srikakulam-Koraput Divisional Committee (SKDC) of Andhra-Odisha Border State Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of Maoists.
He was involved in all the extremist activities committed by CMAS under the leadership of Nachika Linga. Jagdeesh was wanted by police for his involvement in murders, loots, arson and blasting of telecommunication towers.
He had taken training in weapon handling and IED making and was carrying a .303 gun.
He has reportedly admitted to his involvement in murder of contractor Jami Rajendra Prasad and Salu Praska in Laxmipur, Sukra Huika, Rabindra Bidika, Sapru Sirika and Ghasi Kendruka in Koraput villages.
Jagdeesh said surrender by several Maoists and CMAS activists encouraged him to give up arms and join mainstream.
Koraput SP said he would be rehabilitated as per the State Government’s Maoist rehabilitation policy.
