Another accused in the case of setting fire to a minor girl, Ekadashi Das (20), was arrested from Arunnagar village under Mahakalpada police limits on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old Pradip along with his friend Ekadashi had set the 15-year-old girl on fire after the latter spurned his advances on Sunday. The victim, a resident of seaside village of Kharinashi under Mahakalapada police limits, suffered 70 per cent burn injury and is undergoing treatment in SCB Medical in Cuttack. Her condition was stated to be critical.

Pradip, a resident of the same village had been trying to woo the girl for over a year now but in vain. On Sunday, when she was returning home after carrying water from the village tube-well, Pradip and Ekadashi allegedly dragged her to Pradip’s house and poured kerosene on her. The duo then set her ablaze when she shouted for help.
