School van driver hurt in attack

A driver of a school van was brutally attacked by three miscreants in full public view near Red Cross Bhawan on Saturday morning.

A driver of a school van was brutally attacked by three miscreants in full public view near Red Cross Bhawan on Saturday morning. Purnendu Sahu, the driver, suffered serious injuries and has been hospitalised.

Sahu was returning from Unit VIII area after dropping students in a private school when his vehicle was intercepted by a car.

Three youths got down from the car and dragged Sahu out of his van. Then they brought out sharp weapons and attacked him.

Within minutes, they fled as people started to gather.

The incident took place at about 7 pm and barely 100 metres from the police assistant booth at Housing Board Square where a PCR van is always stationed.

Sahu was shifted to Capital Hospital in a serious condition before being shifted to SCB Medical College at Cuttack. Past enmity is stated to be the reason behind the attack.
