Two builders held for cheating

City police on Wednesday arrested two builders on charges of cheating the customers to the tune of lakhs of rupees by offering attractive plotting as well as finance schemes.

One of them, Rabindra Senapati, was held by Chandrasekharpur police for duping close to `1 crore from several people. Senapati, police said, had claimed to be in possession of land in Dumduma, Jatni, Chandaka and Bharatpur area on the outskirts of the City. Chandrasekhapur police acted after receiving a complaint from one L N Ganguly, who was promised a plot in Gothapatna near Chandaka. So far, police have received about a dozen complaints and more are pouring in. In the second case,

Hemant Moharana, who had floated a finance scheme, was held by Sahid Nagar police. Moharana, who had an office in Acharya Vihar, had taken Rs 2 lakh from one Ashutosh Tripathy promising him a monthly return of Rs 17,000 for two years.

However, Moharana did not allegedly pay the returns after three months and closed down his office in Acharya Vihar and opened a new office in Sahid Nagar later.
