Surgeons first, Doctors can wait

With huge vacancies of doctors and paramedics in backward areas yet to be filled up, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday directed the health department to create and fill up 5371 posts of assistant surgeons and other staff. He also announced that the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) will be launched very soon.

The posts to be created include 436 posts of assistant surgeons, 200 dental surgeons, 1024 staff nurse, 1885 female health workers, 125 radiographers, 433 laboratory technicians and 1268 male health workers.
