Bhubaneswar Division of Vigilance on Monday arrested LD Panda, an Assistant Sub-Inspector of police of Khurda Town Police Station, for accepting ` 10,000 as bribe from a person.Panda had demanded the bribe from one Trilochan Ransingh, a resident of Beruan village.
On June 29, Ranasingh had filed a case for which the ASI was the investigating officer. He had sought the gratification to arrest accused persons, said Vigilance SP, Bhubaneswar S Kaushal.
After receiving intimation, Vigilance laid a trap and Panda was caught red-handed in front of Shakuntala Market Complex in Khurda.
He was arrested and will be produced before court on Tuesday.
