Another black buck, an endangered species, was found dead near Bhetanai under Aska forest range on Tuesday.

The four-year-old male black buck was suspected to have been killed in a fight with other black bucks. “The exact cause of the death will be known only after post-mortem,” said forest range officer, Aska, NC Dora.

With this, two black bucks have died in a week. At least eight others died in Aska and Buguda forest ranges in the district in one-and-half months due to various reasons. Road accidents, fighting and attacks by stray dogs were some of the reasons for the death of the  animals. Forest officials said they were working towards safety of these animals.
