Police blockade in twin city to curb crime

A massive blocking was organised in the Twin City by Commissionerate Police on Friday night to keep an eye on the movement of criminals and anti-social elements.

Police Commissioner RP Sharma himself was out monitoring the arrangements by various police stations across the Capital City. Check-posts were set up at 16 different places and as many Inspectors were pressed into the job.

In the recent months, criminal activities such as brazen shootings, loot and robbery have witnessed a serious jump. Though the City Police had started a drive to screen vehicles by setting up check-posts during the day-time and evenings, the move had failed to act as a deterrent and compounded only traffic snarls.

In neighbouring Cuttack too, an equal number of blockades were erected by the cops to screen the movements of anti-social elements on Friday night.
