Women Cooperative bags central order

The Navjeevan Cooperative, formed by the women of rehabilitated families of Tata Steel’s Kalinga Nagar project, has been entrusted with the task of stitching uniforms for students of tribal schools.

The Cooperative, which has begun to establish itself as a brand in ethnic tribal art, textile designs and utilities, has bagged the order for stitching uniforms for the Central Government assisted Eklavya Model residential schools for tribal children.

The Cooperative body has also tied up with Union Government’s Tribes India and Tribal Development Cooperative Corporation of Odisha for marketing its products including hand-painted T-shirts and stoles, dupattas, sarees and utility items like conference folders, flower vases, pen stands, jute bags and mobile covers.

While generating an income of ` 42 lakhs in the last one year, the cooperative has bagged a business contract of Delhi Crafts Council.
