Special squad nabs three dacoits

The Special Squad of Commissionerate Police on Friday evening nabbed a three-member dacoit gang which was wanted in a series of offences in neighbourhood of the Twin City. A loaded gun, bikes and mobile phones have been seized from their possession. Acting on a tip-off, the Special Squad led by Inspector Alok Jena, trailed the gang and intercepted it near Jayadev Bhawan. The three members included Pabitra Mohan Sethi (alias Pappu), Satyajit Praharaj (alias Mitu) and Pupun Ray.

Sethi, police said, was the leader of the gang and was accused in a number of cases of dacoity, snatching and robbery. His area of operation ranged from Pipili in Puri district to Niali in Cuttack. In Cuttack Sadar police limits, he was very active and sought by the local police. The other two were his associates. Praharaj, police said, was son of a dhaba owner. During search, a Mauser was recovered from Sethi’s possession. Three mobile phones and as many bikes have been seized from the three miscreants.
