Rape case: Chargesheet filed in six days

The Commissionerate Police on Monday submitted chargesheet in the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Salia Sahi within a record six days time.

The City police is banking on strong evidence to pin down the accused.

Apart from material evidence like forensic report, medical examination report of the accused from the SCB Medical College along with the scientific team’s report on the incident, the police have several witnesses in the case since Kiran Sahu had been spotted by the people of the area while he was being escorted to the address for which he sought direction on that day from the girl’s father.

The 21-year-old accused had been noticed while he was returning after committing the crime.

A private firm’s CCTV camera too had captured him waylaying the girl whose body was found near a public school. Police Commissioner RP Sharma said police will request the public prosecutor for an expeditious trial in the case so that it acts as a deterrent.
