Kalinga Samman for 2012 will be presented to eminent scientist and former vice-chancellor of Utkal University Prof Basanta Kumar Behura for his lifetime contribution for popularisation of science.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will present the award at a function to be organised by the Kalinga Foundation Trust on Friday.
The award constitutes a cash prize of ` one lakh, memento, certificate and a citation.
The Kalinga Samman is presented by the Trust since 2010 to Odia scientists for their contribution for popularisation of science.
The award was announced by Chairman of the Trust Bhabani Patnaik here.
An e-book titled, “UNESCO Kalinga Laureates for Universal Peace”, published by the Trust will be released by the Chief Minister on the occasion.
Joint managing trustee Prafulla Samal, Prafulla Chandra Ghadei and other members of the Trust were also present.
