Panel gives clean chit to BJD

Even as the Opposition political parties have been alleging involvement of the ruling BJD leaders in the multi-crore mining scam, the Justice M B Shah Commission of Inquiry, investigating illegal mining in the State, on Saturday  once again gave clean chit to the ruling party.

“It is very difficult to prove political patronage as there is not enough evidence. It may not be proper on the part of a judge to comment on that,” Justice Shah told reporters after the fourth day of hearing here.  During his previous visit to the State in December 2011, Justice Shah had also made a similar statement. He, however, had then said  there was enough evidence about the direct involvement of Government officials in the illegal mining activities.
