Vigilance sleuths of Baripada on Tuesday arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police of Krushna Chandrapur outpost.
ASI Mangal Singh was caught red-handed while allegedly taking bribe.
Officials said one Chhutra Singh had lodged a complaint against Ajit Kumar Mahato and four of his associates for illegally fishing in his pond.
Following the report, the ASI had called the accused persons to the police station to inquire about the incident. Singh allegedly demanded `5,000 to let them free.
The deal was finalised at `2,500. He was trapped while accepting the amount from Mahato. Later, his residence was also raided.
