One person was critically injured in a firing incident at the Talcher Coalfield on Tuesday. The injured, identified as Prakash Naik (45) of Kumunda village, has been admitted to SCB Medical, Cuttack.

Two motorcycle-borne persons fired two bullets at Prakash near the Baralam coal mine road at around 10.30 am while the latter was on his way to attend a marriage ceremony. One of the bullet hit Prakash below his waist.

Locals informed Gopal Prasad Police who rushed to the spot and admitted Prakash to Angul Hospital. Two persons of Chitalapur village - Daitari Behera and Narahari Behera - were nabbed later in the day after Prakash accused them of being involved in the incident.

Police attributed past enmity as the cause of the firing. A few days back, Prakash had beat up Narahari.
