Depositors duped

A group of depositors who had invested money in a cooperative society on Wednesday lodged a complaint with Khandagiri Police Station alleging that they have been duped.

The complainants had apparently invested in Maa Mangala Credit Cooperative Society and had received payments in the past. However, some of them whose investment matured last week went to the society’s office to seek the payment, but were turned away on silly grounds.

They returned a couple of days later to see the heads of the society not traceable and the office deserted. The investors then turned to police.

Khandagiri Police said some investors had received their returns but some have not. “We will check if the Reserve Bank of India guidelines have been adhered to and take  action basing on investigation,” an officer said.
