OJEE applicants cross 1 lakh

More than one lakh students have registered for the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) surpassing last year’s total applicants.

Last year, the total number of applicants was around 94,000 including the students applying for medical colleges in the State. This year’s figure included only the applicants for engineering courses, MCA, MBA and other specialised courses.

The cause of increase in number of applicants is attributed to the major rise in the seats of government colleges. The State Government added around 800 seats to both under-graduate and post-graduate courses.

This year, four new courses were introduced through OJEE. Admissions into ayurvedic, homeopathy, master degree in applied management (MAM) and dual degree in MCA will now take place through OJEE.

“Till last year, there was a provision for direct admission into ayurveda and homeopathy courses. Students need to know that this year they cannot take admission to these courses without appearing for OJEE,” said a senior OJEE official.
