Free land given to build 39 hospitals: Rout

Health and Family Welfare Minister Damodar Rout on Friday said in the Assembly that the State Government has provided land to 39 institutions free of cost or at subsidised rate for establishment of hospitals.

Replying to a question from Nabakishore Das (Cong), the Minister said as per Supreme Court directive, the Government is discussing with these institutions for providing free treatment to 25 per cent outdoor and 10 per cent indoor patients. Rout said Government reviewed free treatment provided by the LV Prasad Eye Institute to poor people in 2011 and has approved proposals to set up medical colleges and hospitals in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode at 13 places.

In the approval letter sent to these institutions, a condition has been imposed for free treatment of outdoor and indoor patients.
