The Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Assistant Sessions Judge has handed out two years’ rigorous imprisonment to three persons who had attacked one Simanchal Nayak over a trivial issue three years back.
The three convicts, Kunja Behari Behera, Deba Prasad Moharana and Bijay Moharana have also been directed to pay a fine of Rs 2000 each.
The trio had attacked Nayak on February 28, 2010 in DPI Colony slums over parking of a vehicle. Nayak had sustained serious injuries. The three were charged with attempt to murder under Section 307 of IPC.
The court examined eight prosecution and one defence witness and delivered the verdict, public prosecutor Pradyumna Patnaik said.
