Landlord set afire by tenants

Four villagers were arrested by Jharsuguda police on Monday for allegedly setting afire their 80-year-old landlord, Kumar Dehury, in Talpatia village. He has been admitted to District Headquarters Hospital.

Dehury had given his house on rent to Aju Singh, Suresan Naik, Sagar Ati and Tikeswar Naik. Since Dehury did not have any legal heir, the four allegedly chalked out a plan to grab his house. Aware of their intentions, even as Dehury asked them to vacate their house on several occasions, the four did not do so. The landlord had even sought help of police.

On Monday, the four poured kerosene on Dehury and set him ablaze following a tiff. Receiving information, police nabbed the four accused and produced them in court on Tuesday. The court remanded them in judicial custody after rejecting their bail pleas.
