A youth was killed and another injured when the motorcycle on which they were travelling was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Suansahi Chhak on NH-5 under Kuakhia police limits in the district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Manas Pradhan (25) of Gopalpur Majhisahi. The incident occurred while Pradhan was returning home along with a pillion rider, identified as Premananda Sur of the same village, after attending a Holi function from Chandma near Vyas Nagar at about 4 pm when an the vehicle hit them from behind. While Pradhan died on the spot, Sur sustained serious injuries. Fire brigade personnel in assistance with local people rescued the injured and rushed him to the local hospital. Later, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition was deteriorated. ENS
