Government recommends NWCERT proposal to Plan Panel

The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) has recommended State Government’s proposal for establishment of National Wetland and Coastal Eco-system Research and Training Centre (NWCERT) in the Capital city to the Planning Commission.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday reviewed the action taken during January-December, 2012, on important issues during his meeting with the Union ministers at the Odisha Bhavan in New Delhi.

He expressed satisfaction that the MoEF has released `205.82 crore under ad hoc CAMPA for implementation of the annual plan of operation (APO) for 2012-13.

The Chief Minister observed that though significant progress has been made on many issues, close follow-up is needed for ensuring completion of the projects.

A release issued by the CMO stated that substantial progress has been achieved on various issues relating to Union Ministries of Health and Family Welfare and Civil Aviation.

The HLL Life Care Limited has been entrusted with the construction work of a regional institute of paramedical sciences here on 10 acre of land provided by the State Government. The construction work of a new building for Geriatric Centre at SCB Medical College, Cuttack has commenced.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has started the process to renovate the existing old terminal at the Biju Patnaik airport here for international operations.

Besides, the master plan for the development and operationalisation of Jharsuguda airport has been revised and AAI has concluded pre-feasibility study for development of Jeypore airstrip into a full-fledged airport.

The technical advisory committee of the Ministry of Water Resources has cleared the Anandpur barrage irrigation project.

The Union Tourism Ministry has decided to release funds for light and sound shows at Konark, Dhauli and Udaygiri, stated the release.
