Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) along with leading coir product manufacturer MSB Coir Products will hold a month-long training programme to empower the women of rural areas.
Tata Steel has taken the initiative to develop employable skills, increase household income thereby improving living condition of women of Mansoorkota village adjacent to Gopalpur project.
Around 15 women of Maa Gangachandi and Maa Gayatri SHG of Mansoorkota village under Rangeilunda block are participating in the training programme. M Saibaba, a certified trainer of Directorate of Industries, who set up MSB Coir Products in the area, is providing support for training of the participants.
MSB Coir will supply raw materials to the SHG members and also buy back the finished products thereby eliminating the market linkage problem.
The programme will also provide the women basic knowhow to start coir product making business units and support them to become organised in community-based working units.
Earlier, Tata Steel had taken up goatery project in Mansoorkota village benefiting 60 women from five different SHGs.
