Keeping Summer woes at bay

BHUBANESWAR: Taking care of eyes

The eyes are possibly the earliest to be affected due to the scorching heat. A chic pair of glares may be fashionable but do they really shield the eyes from sun damage?

It may sound outlandish but it’s true that honey brings reprieve to the eyes. To get the much grated potato or cucumber on the eyes is also very helpful. Another way of reducing the pain in the eyes is a mix of green concoction. One more option could be to begin soaking your eyes with cold water and then wipe up some honey on the eyes with the help of a cotton pad. Placing freshly red raspberry leaves with lukewarm water and using it as eyewash for at least thrice a day. A simple eye exercise to strengthen the eyes is to compress the eyes with cold palms of your hand, enhancing the moisture of the eyes and produce tears.

Beauty bits

Vitamin E, C and A are called beauty vitamins because they have lots of anti-oxidants.  Regular consumption of nuts like ground nuts and walnuts make your skin healthy as   they contain biotine. The sensitive skin of the face will feel rejuvenated and refreshed if fresh tomato juice is applied and then washed off. A mix of mint (pudina} paste with  rose water gets rid of the prickly heat fast. Use a face mask containing French clay weekly to clear acne and detoxify your skin. With so many healthy on hand answers and qualms at bay , chill this summer by venturing to go out and enjoy the season too.

Skin intact

Many a time, summer can be hard on your skin and hassle you with insect bites, rashes and prickly heat. Dr Sujata Dora, dermatologist shared some genuine information with us. The constant call for washing away the grime and sweat washes out the natural oils that act as a protection layer on the sensitive skin decreasing the liquid content and aggravates fungal infection and problems like rashes and pigmentation. The use of synthetic cosmetic also darkens and damages the skin. The texture of the skin is influenced by a lot of natural ingredients.  Like aloevera is very effective for dry skin whereas tea oil is good for oily skin. Lemon acts as a best antidote for normal skin. Neem is one of the best natural herbs which works miracles on any kind of skin. A simple 15 minute routine of mashed ripe papaya or a mix of gram flour and curds on the face helps get rid of pigmentation.
