ROURKELA: Two incidents of gang-rape within 48 hours at Dandiapali and Karmabahal have put the police on their toes.
Two minor girls of Badmarein village had come to visit their relatives at Dandiapali under Brahmani Tarang police limits on Tuesday. While walking down the road to take a bus back to their village, four persons intercepted them. While one of the girls managed to escape, they caught hold of the other girl and raped her.
DSP of Rourkela police district zone III, RK Mishra, said all the four accused in this case have been arrested.
On Monday evening, a 14-year-old girl was gang-raped by three youths while she was returning home in Karmabahal village under Birmitrapur police limits. The miscreants came in a motorcycle, forcibly took the girl to a nearby forest and committed the crime. Later, the girl managed to escape from the spot and informed the police.
Birmitrapur SDPO PC Routray said efforts are underway to nab the three culprits.
