BHUBANESWAR: The farmers’ wing of the BJP will hold demonstrations at all district headquarters in the State on July 21 to highlight the failure of the Government in addressing the problems of the farmers.
Assailing the State Government for its lack of preparedness to fight an impending drought, the State unit of the BJP Krushak Morcha alleged that farmers are yet to be provided with paddy seeds.
The Morcha has decided to raise seven issues, including failure of the Government in providing paddy seeds, `100 bonus assistance per quintal of paddy to farmers as declared after cyclone Phailin, lack of irrigation facilities, distress sale of paddy and poor infrastructure in market yards meant for storage and sale of paddy, said Krushak Morcha president Mahesh Sahu.
The Morcha has also worked out a six-month long programme under which efforts will be made to connect with the farmers across the State, he said.
