Odia Techie Murdered in Noida

BHUBANESWAR: Body of an Odia IT professional, Manoranjan Upadhyay, was found in Noida near Delhi on Sunday evening.

His head bore deep cut marks indicating that he was attacked with sharp weapons. His motorcycle was found about 10 metres from the crime spot.

The 30-year-old is suspected to have been murdered before the assailants dumped his body on Salharpur main road under Sector 39 police station of Noida to make it appear like a road accident. A native of Puri’s Kanasa block, Manoranjan was working with a software firm in Noida’s Sector 63. He was also secretary of Yuba Parishad, a youth forum based in the national capital.

After the incident came to light, hundreds of Odias living in the area gheraoed Sector 39 police station since the police had, initially, dubbed it as a case of road mishap. The Odias said it was a clear case of murder and demanded arrest of the culprits.

Chairman of Odisha Khadi Board Tejeswar Parida, who headed Yuba Parishad, said this is the second such incident after the brutal attack on Odia NGO activist Linkan Subudhi.

Attention of the Home Department and Principal Resident Commissioner’s Office has been drawn for requesting the UP Government for a thorough probe into the matter, Parida said.
