Kendrapara Bandh Hits Normal Life

KENDRAPARA: Normal life was disrupted in Kendrapara and its nearby areas on Tuesday due to 12-hour bandh called by BJP in protest against deplorable condition of roads and civic amenities in the town.

Hundreds of BJP workers staged road blockade at Tinimuhani, Santasahi, Ichhapur, Balagandi, Old Bus Stand and New Bus Stand areas.

“We will continue our protest till the Government takes a decision on completion of renovation work of major roads in Kendrapara town,” said Duryodhan Sahoo, president of the district unit of BJP.

The locals also expressed their resentment over bad condition of roads and sought repair of the 12-km road from Tinimuhani to Angalei. They demanded stern action against officials responsible for poor standard of road work.

Apart from Kendrapara, its neighbouring areas like Duharia, Gopa and Tinimuhani were affected by the bandh.

Shops, schools, courts and business establishments remained closed for the day. Vehicles went off the road in most areas.
