Maoist Camp Busted

DEOGARH:  Deogarh police busted a Maoist camp in Makaratanti Hill under Prabhasuni Reserve Forest in the district and seized one carbine sub-machine gun, three loaded magazines, one rifle, 50 live ammunitions, one hi-tech VHF scanner besides other materials.

Briefing media persons here on Sunday, Deogarh SP Asish Singh said acting on a tip-off about Maoists running a camp in the area, police raided the camp on Friday morning. After exchange of fire, the Maoists managed to escape.

Singh said police fired 693 rounds besides using Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) during the operation. More than 25 Maoists were present in the camp and some might have been injured in the firing, said the SP.
