Anti-Maoist Ops Reviewed

MALKANGIRI: Operation against Maoists will be intensified in days to come, said Special Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) BD Sharma.

He was here on Thursday to hold a review meeting of anti-Maoist operations at the BSF sector headquarters. Sharma was accompanied by BSF IG AK Sharma and his Chhattisgarh counterpart SS Chahar. He held a closed door meeting with SP Akhileswar Singh, ASP K Subramaniam and SDPO Pinaki Mishra, besides BSF officials.

On infiltration of Maoists into Malkangiri and Koraput from the neighbouring States, Sharma said, “We have intelligence inputs on the influx of Chhattisgarh Maoist cadres, but due to rain and other limitations, we have not been able to intensify our operation.”

He, however, did not comment on the arrest of top Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda. “The anti-Maoist operation will be stepped up soon and we have drawn up strategies in this regard,” Sharma said.

From Malkangiri, the Special Director General of BSF flew to Koraput where he held discussion with BSF and district police about the operations in Narayanpatna and Bandhugaon.
