JAJPUR: Three persons were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly attempting to rape a 21-year-old girl in the Kalinga Nagar industrial complex.
The incident had taken place on Monday. Those arrested are Sunil Behera and his two friends - Dusasan Behera and Pradeep Behera - all belonging to Rabana village in the district. Police said the girl, belonging to Jagatsinghpur, was in a relationship with Sunil and visited him on Monday as it was the latter’s birthday.
Sunil took the girl to his house in Kalinga Nagar on his motorcycle and en route, two of his friends joined them on another motorcycle. However, instead of taking her to his house, Sunil and his friends took the girl to a deserted place where they attempted to rape her. As the girl raised voice, the three fled from the spot and subsequently, she registered a complaint in Jajpur Road railway police station.
