BHUBANESWAR: After severe indictment of the State Government by the Supreme Court (SC) appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC), Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should agree to a CBI probe into the mining scam, said Leader of the Opposition Narsingh Mishra.
Involvement of Government officials from top to bottom has come to the fore in the CEC report and the Chief Minister should recommend a CBI probe if he is really innocent, Mishra said and added that the Shah Commission which inquired into the mining scam had also recommended a CBI probe.
The State-unit of BJP alleged that the CEC report has pointed fingers at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik by recommending tough action against all officials involved in the scam. The BJP has alleged a number of times about the direct involvement of the Chief Minister in the scam and demanded an independent probe, party spokesman Sajjan Sharma said and added that now the CEC has exposed the Government completely.
