Police Get Lead in Diamond Heist Case

BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate Police has been able to gather some crucial information in the Saturday’s diamonds loot case.

On Sunday, Police Commissioner RP Sharma himself interrogated the complainant, Shyam Sundar Patnaik, for two hours at Kharavel Nagar police station.

Patnaik reportedly told the Police Commissioner that he used to carry precious stones to jewellery shops and display it to customers to promote the diamonds of his company.

On Saturday too, he was out on a similar job and had decided to visit a couple of jewellery shops.

Patnaik, who works as Area Sales Manager with a diamond trading company, was at the jewellery shop on Saturday to collect some payments besides displaying the precious stones.

However, during interrogation, Patnaik could not give a satisfactory explanation as to why did he leave diamonds worth Rs 12 lakh in the car unattended for three hours.

The security guards at the shop and an ATM nearby were also interrogated by the cops but they denied spotting anyone smashing the window glass of Patnaik’s car.
