BDA Cell to Protect Government Land

BHUBANESWAR : The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) formed a Land Protection Cell (LPC) here on Wednesday to safeguard land cleared of encroachments.

The cell will comprise 17 BDA officials and Executive Engineer Harihar Mohapatra will be its nodal officer. The main responsibility of LPC is to identify and secure the land cleared by Central Enforcement Monitoring Committee (CEMC). The cell will also be responsible for identifying vacant Government land and protection of the same.

BDA officials have started putting up temporary signages displaying Government’s ownership of the land. The signages have been put up across 250 acres of land under General Administration (GA) Department. This apart, barbed wire fencing will also be put up wherever required, a senior BDA official said.

After Chief Secretary GC Pati laid stress on clearing encroachments from Government land, the civic authorities have stepped up enforcement activities. The formation of LPC is aimed at streamlining and safeguarding post-eviction work.
