SAMBALPUR:A married woman hired to implicate a man in rape charges was detained by Dhanupali police on Tuesday. Two others, Rabi Singh (28), the man who hired her, and Ehesan Ali Ansari (30), the rape accused, have also been detained.

Dhanupali Police has registered a case. The woman, who hails from Athamallik in Angul district, has confessed to the crime, police said.

Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday, Additional SP Sushil Kumar Panigrahi said the 21-year-old woman had lodged a complaint with Dhanupali Police on May 10 accusing Ehesan of sexually assaulting her. She was accompanied by Rabi whom she identified as her brother. Basing on the complaint, police detained Ehesan.

During investigation, police found that the statements of the woman and Rabi did not match. Further probe revealed that Rabi was not related to her. Police also came across the conspiracy to implicate Ehesan to settle past enmity.

Panigrahi said Chhotu, Patel, Bitu and Pintu of Sambalpur city had hatched the conspiracy to implicate Ehesan and sought the help of Rabi. The four are absconding.

On May 10, Chhotu, Patel and Bitu met the woman and told her to enter into physical relationship with Ehesan before lodging a complaint of sexual assault. The deal was brokered for Rs 50,000. The woman was paid Rs 5,000 as advance. They brought the woman to Sambalpur in a car and Pintu helped them in the city, the ASP said.

In the city, the woman was shown the place where Ehesan was staying. After the sexual encounter, the woman returned to the four men and Rabi accompanied her to Dhanupali police station, where she lodged the complaint.  The Additional SP said as the accused are known to each other, past enmity is being probed.
