BHUBANESWAR: The Planning and Enforcement division of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will function from a new location within a week. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Corporation.
As the main office of the Corporation near Museum Square will not be able to accommodate the two units a separate office area has been designated at BMC Bhawani Mall in Saheed Nagar.
Both, the Planning and Enforcement Departments will have new recruits which include personnel who have superannuated from the planning division of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority.
The move to shift the office of the revamped units comes in the wake of the transition of plan approval of single and multi-storey buildings from BDA to BMC, which was notified last month.
In another significant move the BMC has mooted a ‘green channel clearance’ for fresh applications meant for residential purpose. Under this system, plan approvals for new applications of residential buildings will be disposed of within a period of 10 to 15 days.
“Someone who constructs a house for his own accommodation will ensure that safety parameters are adhered to. So there is no point delaying the clearance of such applications,” a senior official of the Corporation stated.
