IIT Director to Take Charge Next Week

BHUBANESWAR:Prof Ratnam Varada Raja Kumar who has been appointed Director of IIT, Bhubaneswar is likely to take over the new assignment on April 22.

 A Professor of Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering, Prof Raja Kumar joined the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Kharagpur in 1984.

 A native of Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh, he received his engineering degree in Electronics and Communication from Andhra University before getting his MTech in Microwave and Radar Engineering and PhD in Digital Signal Processing from IIT, Kharagpur.

 Prof Raja Kumar’s research areas include Digital Signal Processing, Wireless Communications, Detection and Estimation theory and VLSI systems for Communications. He has to his credit several research publications in reputed international journals and conferences.

 He also served as Dean of Academic Affairs of IIT, Kharagpur besides being Chairman of GS Sanyal School of Telecommunications and also headed the Vodafone Essar-IIT Centre of Excellence in Telecommunications. He also served as a member of several national level committees of Ministry of HRD, DRDO and DoD.
