Six New Urban Primary Health Centres Opened

SAMBALPUR: Six Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) have been opened in areas under Sambalpur Municipal Corporation as a part of the National Health Mission scheme this week.

The UPHCs have been opened at Janardan Pujari Maternity Care Centre in Baidyanath Chhack, Urban Family Welfare Centre in Ainthapali, Dhanupali, Khetrajpur, Chaunrpur and Maneswar.

Each UPHC will have a medical officer, pharmacist, an auxiliary nurse and midwife (ANM), a staff nurse and an attendant.

District Programme Manager of National Health Mission Sujit Panda said a part-time gynaecologist and part-time pediatrician will be engaged in all the six UPHCs.  They will be available at the UPHC once in a week and discussion with some specialists in the city has already been initiated, he added. He further said infrastructure in all the six UPHCs would be improved in due course.

These health centres will remain open from 8 am to 11 am and from 5 pm to 8 pm.
