38K Toilets in Capital City Under Swachh Scheme

BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has set a target to build 38,808 household toilets in the Capital City under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.

The work will be carried out in phases over the next four years. In the first phase, around 12,800 such toilets will be constructed during the current fiscal year.

The programme was launched during a workshop on planning and implementation of community and household toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan held at Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation office here on Tuesday. While the Centre will provide `4,000 to each beneficiary of the scheme, `1,000 will be borne by the State Government.

The beneficiaries will have to produce their Aadhar cards to avail financial support for the scheme.

This apart, the Corporation has allotted `4 crore from its annual budget for construction of roads and drains in the city. During the workshop, work orders were handed over to contractors.
