Train Arson Accused to be Shifted to Jharpada

PURI: The November 12 Puri train coaches burning case  will be shifted to Bhubaneswar District Sessions Court and the accused Ramachandran Subash would also be shifted to Jharpada Jail from Puri Jail. An order in this regard was passed by Puri Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Priyaranjan Barik, on Thursday.

Earlier, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had joined the probe into the incident and its investigating officer Prashant Kumar had filed a petition in the Khurda District Sessions Court seeking transfer of the case from Puri to Khurda Sessions Court. The court, considering the petition, had directed the Puri SDJM to consider the case.

On November 12 evening, at least five coaches of four trains were set on fire at Puri Railway Station.

Two constables of the Railway Protection Force had arrested Subash from the station. The same morning, a stationary coach at Kharagpur had also set been on fire.
