4 Held for Illegal Mining

BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate of Police on Friday busted an illegal mining racket and arrested four persons at Daruthenga under Chandaka police limits. Two excavators, three trucks and nine dumpers were also seized during the raid. Sources said around 10 persons managed to flee during the raid. They were engaged in illegal mining of morom and laterite from the illegal quarry which falls under Chandaka reserve forest. The accused were booked under Sections 379 and 34 of the IPC, Odisha Mines and Minerals Prevention of Theft and Smuggling Act and Odisha Forest Corruption Act.
