Odia Team Completes Trekking

BHUBANESWAR: A team of 50 young students from the State has successfully completed the first preparatory camp for Expedition Himsikhar, a joint venture by Sports and Youth Services Department and Indian Mountaineering Foundation, at Rimbick, a small village of Darjeeling district.

The trek started from Maneybhanjang to first camp at Tumling. The team then proceeded to Kalapokhri at 3186 metre where they stayed for a day for acclimatisation. The next camp was at Sandakhphu situated at 3636 metre.

For the first time in history of the adventure sports of the State, a group of 41 participants has completed the Sandakphu trek, measuring 50 km, at one go. An assessment of each of the participant was done by instructors, said programme coordinator of Himsikhar and member of IMF-East Zone Susanta Das.
