Cong Members Expelled

NABARANGPUR:The district unit of Congress expelled two of its samiti members on Monday for voting against Congress Chairman of Jharigam block Prashan Majhi during the no-confidence motion on Friday.

District Congress Committee president Narayan Patra said samiti member of Kanakote gram panchayat, Hirasingh Majhi and his counterpart from Chokolapadar, Modina Pujari took BJD’s side during the voting as a result of which, they were expelled.

Patra alleged that the two samiti members connived with BJD Minister Ramesh Majhi and cast votes supporting the no-confidence motion against Majhi.

The no-confidence motion against Majhi had become a prestige issue for the ruling BJD and Congress as Jharigam Assembly segment is being represented by Commerce and Transport Minister, Ramesh Majhi. Chairman Majhi is the younger brother of the former MP and Congress leader Pradeep Majhi.
