Raids on Premises of Kalahandi RTO

BHUBANESWAR: The Vigilance Department on Monday conducted raids on residence and office of Kalahandi Regional Transport Officer Dinabandhu Sundhi and stumbled upon movable and immovable assets worth several lakhs of rupees, which are disproportionate to his legal sources of income.

Search was conducted in five places including Sundhi’s residence at Sailashree Vihar here, his office at Bhawanipatna, parental house at Pandupani in Mayurbhanj district and in-law’s place at Mango in Jamshedpur.

The sleuths found deposits of around ` one crore in different banks and financial institutions. Sundhi owns a two-storey house at Sailashree Vihar and plots at Khandagiri and Rairangpur.

Cash of `1.68 lakh and more than 800 grams of gold ornaments were recovered from his residence. Sundhi was first posted as Junior MVI at Jamsola, Girisola and Sohela Check Gates.

He was later promoted to the rank of MVI and served as Additional RTO at Sambalpur.

Subsequently, he was promoted to Group-A service in 2011 and posted as RTO, Kalahandi.

Inquiry is in progress to find out further details of bank accounts and other properties amassed by Sundhi, Vigilance SP Basanta Panigrahi said.
