WB Police Nab Rape Accused

SALEPUR: In a late night swoop on Sunday, West Bengal police with help of Mahanga police nabbed Prafulla Parida (38) alias Galdu, a truck driver, from his house at Meripur for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl of Chanditala in Hooghly district.

Police said, Parida was staying in a rented house at Chanditala.

After alluring the girl with some delicious food, he took her to an isolated place and committed the crime on December 15.

The seriously injured victim was somehow able to reach her home and narrated the incident after which her father filed an FIR.

Acting on the FIR, West Bengal police conducted investigation and arrested Galdu's neighbour Rabindra Kumar Swain, who had assisted him in fleeing from Chanditala to Mahanga. Basing on information obtained from Swain, police nabbed Galdu.

West Bengal police produced the accused before JMFC, Salepur on Monday and took him on two days transit remand.
