3 College Students Die

SUNDARGARH: Three college students were killed and another sustained injuries when the two motorcycles that they were riding were hit by a heavy vehicle in Bonai sub-division of Sundargarh district on Wednesday evening.

Their identity could not be ascertained till filing of this report.

The four youths were students of Jadupali Mahavidyalaya at Sihiria.

They were returning from a picnic spot nearby when the mishap took place. While three of them died on the spot, another was injured critically.

Bonai Sub Divisional Hospital manager Mitali Naik said the three youths were brought dead at around 7.30 pm and the injured youth has been admitted to the hospital.

Truck Falls on Rly Track

The Up track of the Bondamunda-Bimlagarh section of the South Eastern Railway (SER) was closed for a few hours late on Tuesday night after a truck fell on it from NH-143 that runs parallel on upper elevation near Champajharan.

Officer-In-Charge of Government Railway Police SN Mohanty said around 1.30 am, the truck fell on the Up track near Champajharan in Sundargarh district.

Movement of mineral carrying goods trains and a passenger train on the route was not affected as the Down track was clear.

He said the driver and helper of the truck were admitted to Rourkela Government Hospital.
