Doctor Couple Murder: Prime Accused, Husband Arrested

BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate of Police on Thursday arrested Tikina Behera, a prime accused in Sailashree Vihar double murder, along with her husband Jawan Nayak from Andhra Pradesh.

From their possession, cash and gold were seized. A special team tracked down the duo at Vijayawada. Tikina and Jawan will be produced before a local court on Friday. Police Commissioner Dr RP Sharma said police may seek remand of the two. Tikina and her husband are believed to have played a major role in plotting the robbery from the house of doctor duo Dr Prafulla Mishra and his wife Sushama. With their arrest, the total number of arrests stands at five.

Police said Tikina was working as a domestic help with the Mishras for a while but since she was irregular, Sushama had asked her to find another hand. Tikina spotted her neighbour Phulsari Behera for the job. Both live in Salia Sahi slum of the City.

Phulsari was the one who had floated the idea of robbing the couple and consulted Tikina. The two women then roped in their husbands and a cousin.

Tikina had also purchased nitrogen 10 tablets for the five-member group so that they remain high and pull off the job swiftly which they, eventually, did.

Phulsari was arrested by Commissionerate of Police on Saturday along with her husband Muna Khan and a cousin.
