Celebration of Cinema Day

CUTTACK: The Biju Patnaik Film and Television Institute of Odisha, Cuttack on Monday kicked-off a two-day celebration of the Cinema Day.

Noted filmmaker Rajgopal Mishra inaugurated the  function in presence of eminent actor and director Parbati Ghosh and Director of Directorate of Technical Education and Training Bishnu Prasad Sahu.

To mark the celebration, some of the classics and contemporary Odia films including Chha Mana Atha Guntha, Laxmi Ra Abhisara, Blue Mountain and Smoke, Capital Eye and Suka Asuchi will be screened at the BPFTIO auditorium. Mishra urged students to understand the medium while Ghosh discussed the problems and perspective of cinema. Principal of the institute Pradeepta Ranjan Mohanty also spoke. December 28 and 29 are celebrated as Cinema Day to mark the first attempt of private screening of projected motion pictures by Lumiere Brothers in 1895.
