SALEPUR:The Congress and the BJP have blamed ruling BJD for murder of farmer Krupasindhu Sahoo of Nachhigaon under Krushna Prasad gram panchayat in Niali block.

Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan and his BJP counterpart KV Singhdeo met the family members of the deceased farmer on Friday and assured them of raising the issue in the ongoing Assembly session.

Later at a media conference, Harichandan said the Congress would hit the streets if a high level probe is not ordered into the killing of Sahoo.

The farmer was allegedly murdered for seeking information on line transplantation of paddy saplings under the Bringing Green Revolution in Eastern India (BGREI) scheme in Krushna Prasad gram panchayat. Harichandan alleged that the ruling party politicians were involved in the murder of Sahoo as he had threatened to expose financial irregularities in implementation of the scheme. “Local police are also hands in glove with the murderers. If police had responded on time, Sahoo could have been alive,” he said.

BJP president Singhdeo also demanded immediate arrest of the primary accused in the case. He demanded compensation for deceased’s family and job for Sahoo’s son.
