BHUBANESWAR: Around 50 constables of Bhubaneswar Special Jail here on Tuesday staged protest by sporting black badges demanding revision of pay and perks at par with their counterparts in State Police.

The aggrieved jail staff would continue their protest for one more day and have threatened to go for an indefinite hunger strike from Thursday, if the Government does not consider their demands.

Raising concern over the issue, Jail Superintendent Rabi Narayan Swain said in an event when the constabulary ceases work, force has to be diverted from the reserve police to man the prison. Senior officers of the Prison Department have been apprised about the matter.
